Jon Cecil was instrumental in having Lee Memorial Health System awarded the 2004 Employer of Choice award by the Herman Group. Lee Memorial joined only 11 other organizations nationally including four other health care organizations that received this award in 2004.
Jon was a driving force behind Lee Memorial Health System's creation of the Employee Disaster Resource Centers for those effected by Hurrican Charley, who paid Florida an unwelcome visit on August 13, 2005. The aftermath of the hurricane was challenging to this organization and its employees. Communication was limited due to widespread power outages and inoperable cell phone systems. Despite these obstacles, Jon was instrumental in establishing Command Centers to help employees face the trememdous amount of personal challenges and problems.
Jon also helped coordinate the new "Disaster Relief Program." This program offered financial assistance to those whose lives were devasted by Hurricane Charley. It offered employees programs, information, and services designed to alleviate some of the associated burden. This program is was instituted in 2004 and accepted as a Lee Memorial Healthy System policy which will remain in effect to aid employees in the future.

Jon Cecil is responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, and operations of a comprehensive Human Resources function for Lee Memorial Health System. The current employee count for the System is 6,100 employees; and it is the second largest employer in Southwest Florida. Lee Memorial Health System recently was awarded the Premier Health Care Employer by J. Walter Thompson, Inc.
Jon is responsible for strategic planning, operations, policies and procedure related to employment; human resources information systems; compensation and benefits; labor relations; performance management; workforce planning; employee relations; the human resources service center; and the Flex Staffing Services. He assures compliance with all applicable labor, equal opportunity and other rules and regulations related to the workforce.
Additionally, Jon Cecil serves as liaison to two Auxiliaries and volunteer organizations with over 3,000 volunteers; has administrative responsibility for the operations of four Lee Memorial Child Development Centers with over 500 children enrolled; and is responsible for the Employee Health and Employee Clinics for the entire health system system.
Jon has presented across the Nation on the topics of Tomorrow’s Workforce workshops, Achieving Exceptional Business Performance Through Workforce Excellence, Meeting JCAHO Staffing Effectiveness Standards through Spider Diagrams, HR Metrics, and Employer of Choice.
Jon is a Diplomat with the American College of Healthcare Executives; a member of the Society of Human Resources Management; the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration; the Florida Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration; the Voluntary Hospital Association, Southeast Human Resources Executive Council’ and the Voluntary Hospital Association “Tomorrow’s Workforce”, National Collaborative.
