Briefly describe this nomination’s communications objectives and how it met those objectives (up to 100 words):
Objectives: to help restore a sense of confidence and optimism for the future, while clearly honoring and remembering the losses our city, this region, and our country suffered on September 11.
This design "Generations will remember" was created by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey on the second anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The World Trade Center, owned, developed, built, and operated by the Port Authority, was also our agency's home and headquarters. Among the thousands of people lost that day were 84 of our employees. The design was meant to commemorate these profound events, and to move toward the future, which includes the physical rebuilding of the site, and the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan.
The design was used as an ad, a poster on display in our facilities, and on our agency's intranet and public Web sites.
